Troubleshooting with doctor
deedglass doctor runs 16 read-only checks in parallel and prints a fix for anything wrong.
Before you start
- Run it where the server’s settings are, or where
deedglass initran.
1. Run it
Section titled “1. Run it”deedglass doctorExit codes: 0 every check is fine, 1 a problem, 2 doctor couldn’t run, 3 the key was refused. --only db.reachable,ledger.chain runs a few; --json prints the full result.
2. Read a problem
Section titled “2. Read a problem”Each line is one check: ✓ fine, ○ a note, ✕ a problem with its fix. The fix is a sentence you can act on, such as the command or SQL to run. Every check has its own section in Doctor checks.
Common problems
Section titled “Common problems”| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
✕ Server not reachable |
Start it (deedglass init again, or deedglass serve), or set DEEDGLASS_SERVER. |
✕ Clock more than 30 s off |
Sync the machine’s clock. Signed intents and expiries depend on it. |
✕ Deed chain |
Stop and read the Ledger notes. Never edit deeds by hand. |
✕ Decoder slots halted or lagging |
deedglass decoder status names the reason; a lagging slot holds WAL on your database. |
✕ Policies none enforced |
deedglass policy activate … --mode enforce. Until then, default-deny refuses everything. |
What it doesn’t do
Section titled “What it doesn’t do”- Doctor reads; it never fixes anything itself. Every fix is yours to run.
- It checks this machine’s view. A second instance needs its own run.
