Slack approvals

By the end, an action that needs approval posts a card in Slack, and the right person approves it there.

Before you start

  • A Slack workspace where you can install an app.
  • A Deedglass server reachable from Slack over HTTPS (Slack posts button clicks to it).
Terminal
$ deedglass slack manifest --base-url https://deedglass.example.com
…

Paste the manifest into api.slack.com › Your apps › Create from manifest, install it, and keep the bot token and signing secret.

Terminal window
deedglass connector create --config slack.yaml
deedglass connector credentials set slack --field bot_token=env:SLACK_BOT_TOKEN --field signing_secret=env:SLACK_SIGNING_SECRET

Add notify: [slack] to a require_approval rule. Its approvals post a card to the approvals channel: the agent, the tool, the arguments (redacted), the rule’s reason, and Approve and Deny buttons.

A click is checked against the Slack signing secret within a 5-minute window, and replays are refused. The person’s Slack email must match a confirmed Deedglass account, or the click is refused with approver_unmapped. Four-eyes and the self rule apply as in the Console. The card updates as votes arrive, and shows the final verdict.

  • Slack is a way to vote, not the record. The deed in Deedglass is the record.
  • A Slack account without a matching Deedglass account can’t approve.
  • Deedglass doesn’t read your channels. It posts cards and receives button clicks.
